The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – “Jawahara Saudi Folk Group”

jawahara-saudi-folk-groupThe group was founded in 1996, in Jeddah city, under supervision of Culture and Arts Association. It consisted at the beginning of 19 members of administrative, dancers and musicians. It uses folk musical instruments such as samsamiah (popular musical instrument with five strings), bouss (close to the flute), aoud (shaped stringed instrument) and drums. The group participated  not only in several internal occasions, but also is in external occasions such as Kuwait Capital of Arab Culture in 2001, Expo 2008 in Spain, Expo 2010 in China, festival in Qatar and Emirates. The group performs most famous folk dances from around the Kingdom.
